Registration is now open for the first Certified Payment-Card Industry Security Auditor (CPISA) training and exam. The Society has also scheduled a CPISM training and exam event, also to be held in November.

The Society of Payment Security Professionals (SPSP) provided training and certification examination to employees of two major acquirers in July, 2008. 40 individuals passed the exam and were awarded the Certified Payment Card Industry Security Manager (CPISM) Certification. These represent the first CPISMs in the industry and are deserving of a well-earned congratulations!

PCI DSS applies to every organization that accepts payment cards &many education institutions have been slow to achieve campus-wide compliance. This situation is particularly unfortunate since education institution - whether because of their open networks or inadequate security procedures - are particularly vulnerable to hacking and other compromises of confidential customer data. As a result, financial institutions and card issuers increasingly view education institutions as risky merchants.
