The rapid influx of regulation from all directions has created a need
for professionals that understand both the business objectives of the
industry at large as well the security and privacy issues facing the
industry. To date, the marriage of these two skills has been difficult
to evaluate. In order to address the need to identify professionals
that understand both the industry as a whole as well as the pressing
security issues the industry faces, the Society of Payment Security Professionals created the Certified Payment-Card Industry Security Manager (CPISM) and the Certified Payment-card Industry Security Auditor (CPISA).
